Professionals in Residence

Upskilling professionals in digitalisation

Hardly any industry is untouched by digital transformation.

This is a great opportunity for companies, but it is also a challenge. It is therefore particularly valuable for managers and executives to learn and experience more about this topic. This is why the "Professionals in Residence" (PiR) program, supported by the RAV, has launched its own course that takes digital transformation into account. It was in early 2023 when Martin Meyer and Christina Kehl, the founders of PiR, asked Ginetta to develop and deliver modules on design thinking, customer experience and digital prototyping.

The interactive model of the course modules brings together highly skilled professionals from different backgrounds in an informal way. They can share their experiences and best practices and grow together.

CHALLENGE

Digitalisation through a user-centered mindset

How might we put the user at the centre of the digitalisation discussion?

How might we convey innovative design thinking methods to senior professionals with different backgrounds? How might we ensure that the participants do not fall in love with a solution but spend enough time in the problem space?

“Integrating user-centered design and creative problem-solving techniques into daily work processes is a crucial skill for today’s workforce."

Elena Rovati, Managing Director at Ginetta

SOLUTION

Bringing back the child’s mindset

The course begins with an icebreaker question: "What did you want to be when you were a child? This opening creates a beautiful environment where everyone brings back their beginner's mindset: going wild before seeing constraints. When brainstorming, participants are asked to discard their ideas and be open to a non-linear and user-centred approach.

Through a real case scenario, participants explore ideas that really create value for users and the business. Ginetta provides tools, frameworks and personalised guidance to support participants.

Human-centered learning

People success = business success. That is why we have designed our course modules to be human-centered and as realistic as possible. Following the Design Thinking’s double diamond approach, participants are encouraged to empathize with users to solve a real-world problem. By understanding the users’ pain points and goals, they reframe a problem into a “How might we question” that guides the ideation process.

"It is inspiring to see teams turn their ideas into tangible creations. The joy they gain from engaging users delights me, and I'm optimistic that they'll continue this approach in their future endeavours".

Franziska Luthiger, UX Research Lead at Ginetta
Prototyping ideas quickly and efficiently

Many professionals prefer to describe their ideas in words, but are afraid to visualise them. In our course, we equip participants with basic UX patterns and simple graphics to help them overcome the blank page block. They use prototyping tools as simple as paper or as sophisticated as Uizard to visualise the core user flows that describe their idea.

Teaching through real cases

We know that theory is empty without practice. Students experience the steps through the problem they choose to tackle, and we share real-life cases from Ginetta to help professionals understand how the process can be executed for different types of projects.

CONCLUSION

More valuable than knowledge

The participants leave the room embodying the beginner's mindset, using creativity and a "yes, and" attitude to solve problems as a team.

In addition to a good insight into design thinking, CX and rapid prototyping, they take home a certain lightness. They learn to fail fast and often, to stay open and inspired, and to communicate their ideas by visualising a prototype with simple graphics.

“I was really impressed by the company Ginetta, its team and their professional approach. The creative methodology is very fascinating and takes us away from routine tasks into a creative space that enables deeper problem-solving."
