Basler & Hofmann is a leading engineering, planning and consulting company that realizes complex and monumental construction projects. In just a decade, the company has grown from humble beginnings into an impressive community of professionals. The range of services is now much broader than it was 10 years ago when Ginetta designedthe company's first website. 

Now Ginetta has been commissioned to design a website that reflects Basler & Hofmann's progress.

Challenge

Making the complex simple with the same essence

The existing website provided the starting point for the new one: a site that has grown with the company over 10 years. During this time, new lines of business were added. A lot of content was created over these years, too. The site became a conglomerate of services and posts. The company was no longer immediately understandable to the users of the website.

Solution

Facelift and brainlift

What the existing website had lost over the years, the new one should achieve straight away: Clarity of content and a modern look and feel. We conducted interviews with existing and potential customers to understand the complexity of the business. The abundance of content pieces was analyzed and revised. In addition to its professional expertise, we also wanted to make Basler & Hofmann's personal touch tangible.

The most relevant and contemporary content pieces were identified and brought into a new modular and scalable design form. 

We completely restructured the information architecture and its search filters. Due to the different competences, we have ensured that the user finds the right area straight away. Furthermore, we have also designed an intuitive navigation path. Now the user can easily navigate from a competence to a respective example project, and from a project to the corresponding competence.

Inspired to create – created to inspire

The website offers users exciting inspiration with the new "Impulse" navigation point. Current reports are presented in blog-like topic areas. New perspectives are presented here, such as what urban development will look like in 5 years' time. These blog entries are promoted on social media.

Beauty you can feel

We took the existing corporate design one step further by modernizing and digitalising it. That’s how an independent modern design language was created. The design consists of angular shapes and strong lines. The landing page awaits the user with moving images with changing sliders and some of the most important pages were emotionally charged with mood clips.

The future is now

Basler & Hofmann’s new website is a state-of-the-art solution with modular, expandable elements. While creating the site we were able to lay the foundation for a completely new corporate design, which Basler & Hofmann can apply to future communication tools.

In this way, we laid the foundation for a website that will still be modern in 5 years' time.
